Advent and Christingle 2021
It has been lovely to hear all the fantastic acts of compassion that the children have been doing this Advent taking inspiration from the Advent Calendar. From litter picking in local areas to making gifts and cards, as well as tidying mess made by younger siblings. We are so proud that the Children of Tushingham are embracing how they can show love and care towards others this Advent time.
Yesterday we held a socially distanced, whole school Christingle service and parade. The children had simultaneous collective worship in their classrooms, with the theme being 'Shine as a light in the world' taking inspiration from the Matthew 5 14-16. They then paraded around the school and playground shining their lights!
Jesus said:
14 ’You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.’
The children thoroughly enjoyed the service particualarly parading with their own clay candle holders and singing along to 'This Little Light of Mine' . Usually the children would have been given a collection box following the service to help raise money for the Children's society. This year we were unable to do this but we would encourage you to talk to your child about this event and consider donating to the children's society as they usually raise a large proportion of their funds from hosting and organising Christingle services.
